PRACTICAL STRATEGIES FOR SUPPORTING GENDER DIVERSE KIDS WITH MELA SWAYZE

Facilitated By: Mela Swayze (They/Them), PhD, Educator, Speaker, Consultant

In this session for education staff and leadership, participants will deepen their knowledge and gain practical tools to support trans, Two Spirit and gender diverse children. Participants will learn about common barriers encountered by trans and gender diverse kids in classroom settings, and evidence-based practices on protective factors and supporting resilience. We will apply a gender affirmative model to topics such as language use, gendered spaces, community resources, and practice new learnings through case scenarios.
