REFRESHED AND STREAMLINED: CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL LEARNING (CPL) PROGRAM

Facilitated By: Deborah Gores, RECE, Professional Practice Analyst at the College of Early Childhood Educators

The Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) program is an ongoing professional learning program that is grounded in self-reflection, self-directed learning and the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.

The CPL Program is designed to support RECEs to:

  • Enhance their knowledge and skills

  • Strengthen their professional judgment

  • Improve their practice throughout their career

It also communicates to families, colleagues, and the public that RECEs are members of a distinct profession that demonstrates accountability, maintains public trust, remains current in practice, and values ongoing professional learning.

As regulated professionals, RECEs are required to engage in professional learning.

During this presentation, you will be provided with an overview of the revised Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) Program launched in July 2022. You will learn about the Sexual Abuse Prevention Program online member education and the new simplified CPL Portfolio Cycle of One Year-One Goal. You will have an opportunity to ask Deborah Gores, RECE, your questions and learn about the free online resources available on the College of Early Childhood Educators’ website.

Deborah Gores, RECE, is a Professional Practice Analyst at the College of Early Childhood Educators. She graduated from the University of Guelph where she completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Child, Youth and Family, as well as a Master of Science in Family Relations and Human Development. She has conducted extensive research on supporting RECEs with addressing the development of sexuality in children. She has also worked as a Research Assistant and Project Coordinator, which allowed her to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams in research and program evaluation. Before beginning at the College of Early Childhood Educators, Deborah worked in the Research and Evaluation Department at Dr. Jay Children’s Grief Centre.
