PARENT COMMUNICATION

Facilitated by: Megg Thompson, Certified Behaviour Consultant

A team with caregivers and educators on the same page has the most potential for helping children be at their best. How can we talk to caregivers so we can continue to have open lines of communication and trust is strong? Parents are the child’s first caregiver and teachers are the second (environment is the third) so both parties are needed and essential.

What are the learning goals?

1. Educators will be more confident talking with parents.

2. They will know how to build trust.

3. They will better understand what language to use so parents will actively listen and be open to their message.

4. They will better be able to have harder conversations too.

Megg Thompson, a former Kindergarten teacher of ten years, is a certified Behaviour Consultant and Certified Life Coach working with children, adults, and families. Megg is also the founder of Megg Thompson Behaviour Consulting. Megg helps parents and educators support their neurodivergent children in a neurotypical world. To get to where she is today, she has interned with Bev Bos at the Roseville Community Preschool in Roseville, CA while getting her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of New Hampshire. Through these experiences, she has adopted a proactive and strength-based approach to behaviour. She uses this model to help ALL children and adults find success and empowerment through their natural design.
