PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AROUND THE DUTY TO REPORT

Facilitated by: Melanie Dixon, RECE Director of Professional Practice, College of Early Childhood Educators

For Early Childhood Educators, ensuring the well-being, health and safety of children is a top priority. In their work with children, early years professionals are in a unique position to recognize possible signs of child abuse, neglect and family violence. Attend this workshop to deepen your understanding of the legal, ethical and professional responsibilities related to the duty to report. Consider what may influence your decision-making, the consequences of not reporting and what to expect when contacting a Children's Aid Society.

Melanie Dixon is a collaborative leader and learner with varied experience in the early years sector, including licensed child care, child and family resource programs, post-secondary education, government and professional regulation.

As part of her professional learning, through her work at the College, Melanie is examining ways to support mentorship in the context of the practice of early childhood education in Ontario. In her personal time, she enjoys connecting with relations in gardens, along trails and around dining tables.
