Facilitated by: Kale Cabrera, School-Age Educator
Kale Cabrera is a passionate school-age educator who will be discussing the unique challenges and victories of before and after-school programs. After all - we know that learning is not left at our desks. Kale will delve into how we transform shared environments, how we create relationships with our students, their families, and our team, and how to continue exploring beyond the classroom.
Kaylee "Kale" Cabrera grew up in her mother's home daycare (which, she believes, is the coolest way to grow up). She watched her mother create relationships and moments in the lives of the children in her care by asking them questions (well, what do YOU think?), offering affirmations (that's a beautiful drawing!), and challenging them to grow (I wonder...). It was during this time that Kale decided she wanted to be that hero to children as well.
Kale has been working as an educator with non-profits since 2016. Most recently, she had the joy of working with the London Children's Museum as the Special Project Coordinator in a novel child-led redesign of their space exhibit and as a Program Supervisor for London Children's Connections. Kale is thrilled to collaborate once more with Strive since her presentation at Winter ReThink in 2022 and could not be more excited to share her passion for school-age education and child-led programming with others.
