BOOK STUDY: CULTIVATING PROFESSIONAL FRIENDSHIPS

This book study invites professionals in leadership positions (e.g., directors, supervisors, managers, coordinators) to come together to collaboratively reflect on Cultivating Professional Friendships in Early Childhood Education by Diane Kashin.

Participants will share their perspectives, experiences, and ideas while engaging in thoughtful discussions. Topics may include defining professional friendship, agency in professional learning, and navigating disagreements.

Discussions from this group will be ongoing and will help inform the Community Animator about the community’s current support needs.

Your Cultivating Professional Friendships book is included with registration. Facilitators will contact you before the session with details on pick-up and drop-off arrangements.

This book study will meet on the third Thursday of each month from May to December (excluding August). The dates are as follows: May 15, June 19, July 17, September 18, October 16, November 20, December 18.

Please note: This book study is a monthly commitment. By signing up, you are agreeing to attend and participate in all sessions to the best of your ability.

 

Kayla Paquette (she/her) is a registered Early Childhood Educator. She graduated from Fanshawe College's Honours Bachelor of Early Childhood Leadership program in 2019. Prior to this role, Kayla worked as a Pedagogical Mentor for a childcare and early years centre.

 

Val Bytyqi (she/her) is a registered Early Childhood Educator with 20 years of experience in the field. Before joining London Bridge, she worked as an educational assistant at TVDSB. Currently serving as a Pedagogical Mentor, Val is dedicated to supporting educators and individuals in their professional growth. She is passionate about fostering meaningful conversations that encourage educators to embrace new perspectives, refine their practice, and deepen their connections with children, families, and colleagues.
