ADVANCING EDUCATORS’ RIGHTS: PRACTICING GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP AND SOCIAL JUSTICE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Registration Opens Tuesday, April 1 at 9:00 AM

Facilitated by: Safra Najeemudeen, PhD Candidate, RECE

This interactive professional learning session invites participants to explore the intersection of educators' rights, social justice, and global citizenship within the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector.

Building on discussions about children’s rights, this session highlights educators as change agents and examines how their rights underpin efforts to foster equity, inclusion, and solidarity in global and local contexts. Participants will engage in collaborative activities and discussions to unpack what global citizenship and educators’ rights truly mean in practice. Together, we will dismantle jargon, build a shared understanding of these concepts, and identify actionable strategies for creating inclusive, rights-based environments in early years settings.

The session will conclude with an opportunity for participants to reflect on how they can translate theory into practice, empowering them to lead with purpose and solidarity in their professional roles. This session is designed for ECEC professionals who are passionate about advancing justice, supporting liberation, and transforming educational spaces.
