Facilitated By: Kale Cabrera, PL Facilitator, London Children’s Connection
Beyond the Bell: Belonging in Shared Spaces is a conversation of what it means to be a school-age educator, specifically a school-age educator operating in spaces that are not their own. From classrooms to libraries, educators working in before and after school programs are tasked with creating homes in environments that are not always designed with their needs in mind. Along with the challenges, we will explore the unique victories of being a school-age educator in our beautiful, flexible, chaotic, ever-changing field.
Kale Cabrera is a passionate educator who has been working with children and non-profit organizations since 2016. Since she was a child in her mother's home-childcare, she has loved every aspect of working and learning alongside children - the messier the better! Today, after working in a school-age program for 4 school years, Kale trains new educators joining the ranks of London Children's Connection before and after school programs and speaks with educators across the community about what it means to be, not only nurturing to a child, but nurturing to ourselves.
