Join facilitators Mary Mitches (Fanshawe College ECL Field Coordinator) and Michele Andersen (Fanshawe College Faculty Advisor) as we discuss mentorship. How to develop a positive mentoring relationship and the dispositions of mentors and mentees. Participants will have an opportunity to share their experiences and discuss what "good mentorship" looks like.
Facilitator Bio
Mary Mitches has been a registered Early Childhood Educator for over 25 years, where she has mentored ECE students and new ECEs, and co-created a mentoring program for the local school board. She has been teaching at Fanshawe for 7 years, initially in the ECE diploma program, and later in the Early Childhood Leadership degree program as faculty and field coordinator. Her research interests focus on children as active agents who, through collaborative work with educators, families, and peers, become empowered and engaged learners. She believes that relationships truly matter.
Facilitator Bio
Michele Andersen has been in the field of Early Childhood Education for over 30 years. Throughout her career, she has held roles as a student, mentor, and faculty advisor. She is passionate about fostering leadership in each person and affirming their unique abilities. Michele looks forward to meeting participants and engaging in discussions during the session, where she will share her knowledge and enthusiasm for ECE
