Facilitated By: Alan Thomson, PlayVenture London
Play is the way children learn, and the way they play has a lot to say! This workshop is an opportunity to learn about a new resource in the London region that is supporting Pop-Up play experiences for local children. An infinite supply of loose parts exists all around us, and to the untrained eye, the items look like they belong in a recycle bin or landfill. Children are curious and capable by nature, and this presentation will assist you on how to support a self-directed play style with children using pop-up play loose parts. An adventure loose parts activity kit has been developed by PlayVenture London, in collaboration with Strive, and funding assistance was received from the Healthy Kids Community Challenge through the City of London. This presentation is intended for groups and organizations whose services support children with educational and recreational practices. An overview of Pop-Up Play practices will be shared, how to use and set up the materials in the activity kit, and how to arrange use of the kit for your organization. Be prepared to Play!
